Filhos de Bimba Escola de Capoeira

Filhos de Bimba · Filhos de Bimba School of Capoeira · Filhos de Bimba Capoeira School

Founded by
Nenel

Filhos de Bimba Escola de Capoeira is the school headquartered in Salvador, Bahia, led by Mestre Nenel (Manoel Nascimento Machado), son of Mestre Bimba, and carrying the Capoeira Regional tradition of the Bimba family line. It has affiliated units abroad (Belgium, Portugal, United States).

After Mestre Bimba's death in 1974, his son Nenel returned to Bahia and took over his father's legacy; he is listed as president of the Filhos de Bimba School of Capoeira. A foundation associated with the school (named variously Fundação Mestre Bimba / Filhos de Bimba Foundation) was reportedly conceived by Bimba's disciples and admirers under Nenel's leadership in 1993, a date given by a single secondary source and not verified. The founding date of the school itself is not established in the sources found.
