Alberto was an informal street capoeira practitioner active in the Parque dos Ferreiras neighborhood of Duque de Caxias in the early 1970s. Along with Jaime and Rubens, he taught young Daniel Canedo the fundamentals of capoeira in the streets before Daniel would later join the formal academy of Mestre Josias da Silva.
This informal street training was a common entry point for young capoeiristas in urban Rio de Janeiro during this period. While the formal academies of Mestre Barbosa and Mestre Josias were establishing structured capoeira instruction in Duque de Caxias, practitioners like Alberto operated in parallel, teaching in neighborhoods and preparing young people for the street rodas held in central Caxias.
The early 1970s were a period of growth for capoeira in the Baixada Fluminense. Mestre Barbosa had founded his association in 1970, Mestre Josias was operating his academy, and in June 1973 the famous Roda Livre de Caxias would be established. Alberto and his informal teaching companions were part of the broader grassroots culture from which this tradition emerged.
No further biographical details about Alberto have been documented. His legacy survives through Daniel Canedo, who went on to become a mestre and pioneer of capoeira in Canavieiras, Bahia.
